visited the modern city of Quito high up in a narrow valley, Otavelo with its large open market and Mindo which is a great tourist resort. Five days were spent in a very damp jungle where tree monkeys, very large spiders, Piraña fish and tarantulas were amongst the species that were seen there.

Most of the students are from a Russian background, as are a majority of the teachers. Motti Zaslow who volunteers tutoring English cannot speak too highly of the highly motivated students and the teachers who want only the best for them.

in 15 years and was struck by the changes in the demographics and looks of the people he enocuntered there. He concludes "I've read demographic studies of the US and it's estimated that within another 40 years Anglos will be a minority in the US. I don't know what the situation is in other states but with California being the most populated, from my perspective I would say that number is way off and today's minorities will be the majority much sooner."

In the 1960's he had a change of career - he became the first native English speaking guide in the country and with his wife Bracha established their own tour firm. He guided many interesting and famous people on their visits to Israel.
